چکیده
In this study, a wireless bio-radar sensor was designed to detect a human heartbeat and respiration signals without direct skin contact. In order to design a wireless bio-radar sensor quantitatively, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the baseband output of a sensor should be calculated. Therefore, we analyzed the SNR of the wireless bio-radar sensor, considering the signal power attenuation in a human body and all kinds of noise sources. Especially, we measured a residual phase noise of a typical free-running oscillator and used its value for the SNR analysis. Based on these analysis and the measurement results, a compact, low-cost 2.4 GHz direct conversion bio-radar sensor was designed and implemented in a printed circuit board. The demonstrated sensor consists of two printed antennas, a

The use of ultra-wideband (UWB) signals holds great promise for remote monitoring of vital-signs which has applications in the medical, for first responder and in security. Previous research has shown the feasibility of a UWB-based radar system for respiratory and heartbeat rate estimation. Some simulation and real experimental results are presented to demonstrate the capability of the respirat...
متن کاملShort-Range Vital Signs Sensing Based on EEMD and CWT Using IR-UWB Radar
The radar sensor described realizes healthcare monitoring capable of detecting subject chest-wall movement caused by cardiopulmonary activities and wirelessly estimating the respiration and heartbeat rates of the subject without attaching any devices to the body. Conventional single-tone Doppler radar can only capture Doppler signatures because of a lack of bandwidth information with noncontact...
متن کاملAnalysis of Vital Signs Monitoring Using an Ir-uwb Radar
Ultra-wide Band (UWB) technology is a new, useful and safe technology in the field of wireless body networks. This paper focuses on the feasibility of estimating vital signs — specifically breathing rate and heartbeat frequency — from the spectrum of recorded waveforms, using an impulse-radio (IR) UWB radar. To this end, an analytical model is developed to perform and interpret the spectral ana...

Non-contact respiration and heartbeat rates detection could be applied to find survivors trapped in the disaster or the remote monitoring of the respiration and heartbeat of a patient. This study presents an improved algorithm that extracts the respiration and heartbeat rates of humans by utilizing the terahertz radar, which further lessens the effects of noise, suppresses the cross-term, and e...
